Little Apple Treats, Sebastopol CA

Little Apple Treats was born from a desire to find a way to make use of the apples growing in their certified Organic orchard. Dan and Joanne moved to Sebastopol in 1999 to grow native plant starts alongside their apple orchard.
We first met Dan when the store I was working for in Napa was carrying Little Apple Treats caramels, granola and cookies. We were short on time after selling out on spring day, so I volunteered to do a “pick-up” at their farm just west of Sebastopol. It was a curious drive up a steep grade road and a driveway that actually “dove” onto their farm. Driving past a beautiful old orchard we had arrived. Soon after we met, I knew these people were going to be our friends. Howard and I drove away that day saying, “they should be our friends.” Since then, we’ve had lunches and dinners together. Last year Dan and Joanne joined us as guests at our wedding. Like-minded people seem to be capable of gravitating towards each other and the four of us were good examples. Now Little Apple Treats has added shrubs and apple cider vinegars plus mulling spices and soon tea! Jupiter Foods is happy to carry Little Apple Treats’ entire product line. Recently at a Water Street Bistro lunch, we all discovered that our branding color palette were nearly identical! Great minds think alike.
Last week at a Board meeting for an organization we volunteer, we took some of Joann’s caramels for treats. They were a huge hit! “What is that?” aid Kia. Little Apple Treats caramels use apple cider that is reduced to a syrup and substituted for the sugar as sweetener for the candy. These soft caramels are like nothing you’ve ever tasted, and their other products are equally sublime. Good people plus good groceries!
